Heard This Before
Well it looks like the President is in full re-election mode.
In March of 2010 the Obama administration was proposing to open vast expanses of water along the Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the north coast of Alaska to oil and natural gas drilling, much of it for the first time. Well, we all know how that worked out. Now he is at it again, saying he would begin to hold annual auctions for oil and gas leases in the Alaska National Petroleum Reserve, a 23-million-acre tract on the North Slope of Alaska.
This is just more of the rhetoric we have come to know from this administration. Say one thing and then do the complete opposite when you think everyone has forgotten. I can’t imagine anyone will fall for this dog and pony show for a second time. Oil exploration won’t happen until after the 2012 election, when he gets voted out of office and a Republican is back in the White House.
His support with the people continues to drop. The short-lived bump he had from the killing of bin Laden is over. According to the current Gallup poll, he only has a 48% approval rating, while 45% of the country disapprove of the job he is doing. He has done little to improve the energy problems in this country, while expanding oil exploration for several South American countries. Unemployment is still at record high numbers with the housing market continuing to struggle, jobs and the dreams of so many to have a better life will continue to be a an unattainable goal. Unless the president finds some way to turn the economy around and to lessen the pain at the pump, his numbers will continue to go down and a second term will only be a dream for him. Taking into account the lack of recovery the last 2+ years, there is little chance he will be able to bring reap prosperity back to America.
