Yesterdays Comedy Central show Restore Sanity must have really disappointed all of the lefties who thought here was going to be their chance to rip on conservatives especially people like Glenn Beck whose highly successful rally inspired Comedy Central to put on this show.
All they got yesterday was a 3 hour tv show from Comedy Central.
Recently a minister was going to burn a Koran and Jon Stewart spent many shows ripping on the guy for this threat of a violent act. The one ironic moment of the whole day yesterday was when Yusuf Islam, the British singer formerly known as Cat Stevens appeared on stage to sing his song Peace Train!
On February 21, 1989, Yusuf Islam addressed students at Kingston University in London about his conversion to Islam and was asked about the controversy in the Muslim world and the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie’s execution. He replied,
“He must be killed. The Qur’an makes it clear – if someone defames the prophet, then he must die.”
So here is a guy who said that someone should be killed for writing a book and Stewart has him on stage yet he had a meltdown about one man who was simply going to burn a book.
That is truly liberal irony.
