Reality Sets In

You really have to feel sorry for Democrats. They regained power last November and all of the fringe groups like the Daily Kos Kiddies, moveon and other extremist groups thought they had everything going their way, they finally had their people in place.

The radicals thought they were going to go in and end the war, impeach the President and turn the country into a liberal wasteland. Sadly reality is setting in.

Turns out the people who put them into power are a little pissed off. Take for example Rae Abileah, a kook from Code Pink group, she recently said, “We outraged that this is all we can get from the Democrats. We’re just heartbroken that Nancy Pelosi has decided to keep funding George Bush’s war, and now the war belongs to the Democrats as well as the Republicans. They are finding out that while they may have the loudest voices they are still the minority, most people still support the troops.

They recently wanted to grant voting rights to Washington, D.C., but they had to back down from that idea when Republicans made a motion that would have repealed the gun ban for the District, they don’t dare upset their antigun lobby so they had to withdraw that idea.

They tried very early to cut and run from the war in hopes of appeasing those who have hijacked the party. But that turned out unpopular with the normal people in America so they had to back away from that plan. And now the current bill they are trying to pass is typical Democratic. In order to fund the war they have filled it with enough pork to make Arnold Ziffel proud.

But it has not been all failures for them. They did get the minimum wage law passed, and did eliminate the tax breaks that were used to spur the economy. But with so many failures, they had to do something to distract their voter base so they have gone to bat for eight attorney generals that were fired.

I believe David Obey said it best, “But you can’t end the war if you vote against the supplemental. It’s time these idiot liberals understand that. There’s a hell of a difference between de-funding the troops and ending the war. I’m not gonna deny body armor. I’m not gonna deny funding for veterans’ hospitals and for defense hospitals so you can help people who have medical problems”

To bad the far left fringe can’t understand that.

  1. One other thing to be added to the mix of your post is the state of the GOP today. In the aftermath of the historic GOP losses on Nov. 2006, moderate Republicans quickly concluded that the party needed to be more moderate. Conservative Republicans declared that it should be more conservative. Main Street is angry at Wall Street, theo-cons are angry at neo-cons, and almost everyone is angry at President Bush and the then and now GOP congressional leadership.

The very nature of the base being upset with the party from either side is a long time tradition in American politics. That is why the 2008 race is so exciting. Who controls the parties? Will moderates vote in big enough numbers to insure nominess are more like Rudy and Clinton? Or more like Brownback, and well we still so not have a true liberal in the race from our side….so I can’t put a name to this last thought.
