Conservatism From The Midwest

They Can’t Deny It

With recent events there is no way that the main stream media cannot deny that they have a very liberal slant.

What brings me to this conclusion, a couple of recent happenings. A few weeks ago John McCain went to the Middle East, including a stop in Iraq. How many BIG THREE tv news anchors attended him on this journey. Very easy answer there ZERO. Now we have the media event of this month Obama world wind tour of Europe and the Middle East and the networks are falling all over themselves covering this as some type if major news event, when in actuality it is nothing more than campaign photo ops to try and make a man who has spent less than 200 days in the working Senate and with no foreign diplomatic knowledge as a world leader.Do you really feel comfortable with a man who is using a media event to establish his foreign policies?

Now today the most liberal paper in America, the New York Times, has announced that it was thrilled to publish Obama’s piece last week but will refuse to publish John McCain because it does not care for the stand it took. They would be happy to publish it if it was more like Obamas.

Absolutely disgusting that the main stream Media is not covering news any longer but just giving their opinions and agenda as news.

SO the next time some liberal says there is no such thing as bias reporting in this country, just shake your head and walk away, you will never convince people who cannot see past the end of their own noses.

Why No Blogging?

It has been a few day since I have blogged anything, and for a very good reason. After 20 years of living near the downtown we have moved to a new place just for us! This was the beautiful sky we admired last evening, something you don’t get an opprtuinty to do living in the city. We are really going to enjoy our new home.

Trade Him

You have to feel really bad for what has happened in Green Bay. The Packers should just go ahead and trade Aaron Rodgers now, the fans are never going to accept him and his life here is going to be miserable. The only one to blame for this is not TT, but Brett Favre. If he would have been a man instead of a wishy-washy boy this whole affair could have been avoided.

I feel horrible for the treatment of Rodgers by the supposed fans of Green Bay.

So lets bring Farve back let him have his year and he better hope he wins the Super Bowl because that is the only thing that will justify what he has done to this city, this team and a young mans career.

Then next year when Farve again goes wishy-washy Green Bay can just sit back until he decides what he wants to do again.

But do the right thing TT, trade Aaron, give the kid a chance to play the game he loves and play for fans who cheer for teams not for aging QB because they once won a Super Bowl 12 years ago.

Brett Favre

While the majority of the post here are political, being a Green Bay Packer fan I just cannt ignore the current drama between the team and Brett.

WOW! What a firestorm we have here in the Frozen Tundra! The message boards are burning, sports call in shows are jammed. We have people ready to run GM Thompson out of town on a very short rail.

If you are a sports fan, even if you are not you must know that Brett Favre has said he wants to come back to the NFL. The problem is the team has already planned the season with the players they have and really are not interested. This is what is upsetting so many fans, how could they not want him back?

The answer is simple, he has jerked the team around this off season so much they are tired of the games. In March they were ready to take him back, had a private jet all set to go get hi, have a big announcement of his return and go for one more run at the Super Bowl. Problem is, just days before it was to happen Brett called again and said he once again did not have the desire to play this year.

He has asked to be released from his contract so he can negotiate his own deal with any team! Why would Green Bay risk him making a deal with a division team, or a team in the NFC that they may meet in a playoff game?

The facts are that the Packers really hold all of the cards. I expect them to eventually say ok Brett come on in to camp and compete for the starters job, he will hen have to decide if he wants to play in Green Bay or stay retired. I really don’t think he is worth a lot on the trade market. He has a huge salary that a team would have to absorb, then not knowing how long he is actually going to play, one year two years three years, they are not going to give up high draft picks for a one or two year QB. I believe that is why Brett wants to be released because he knows under contract with the Packers he has a very small chance of playing anywhere this year except GB.

This is a sad ending to a wonderful career in the NFL and in Green Bay. It has caused division among fans, will only cause problems within the team if he returns and is a no win situation for everyone.

Not the way I am sure he wanted it to end.

The Man Of Change

Since his campaign has begun, he has been on a pedestal by many in this country. He gave terrific speeches, has a smile that could melt a young girls heart and has the look of confidence that we want to see in our president.

So what is wrong? Why are so many people confused as to who he really is? We know his voting record has been one of the most liberal in recent years. We have heard that the troops will be home in 16 months, which played well with the antiwar crowd. He is obviously a man of faith which did not seem to rattle his liberal base, and stood up to racist remarks and hateful remarks that flowed from the church that he was attended, showing that he will not tolerate bigotry in any form.

But yet now we have seen another side of Barack, a side that has moved from his popular stand of progressive ideals and believes to a move to the center and even the right. In the past couple of weeks he has shown a side that has surprised many on the left and has brought into question where he stands from the right.

He has criticized the Supreme Court for striking down a state law that called for execution of child rapists, a stand that goes against the very fabric of the progressive left. He stated his support for the high court’s reversal of the District of Columbia ban on hand guns, something just a couple of years ago he strongly supported. He has promised more federal dollars to what Bush calls “faith-based” programs run by churches and other religious groups, another issue that the left feels should not have any type of government support, the mantra of the left. He recently stated he  will re-examine his policy on the Iraq war, which has been a core issue in his campaign, and the driving force to his success the antiwar people. He recently hit another nerve for the left, abortion, this is a issue that progressives feel is a no holds bar, they can be done for any reason at anytime. Obama has said “mental distress” should not count as a health exception that would permit a late-term abortion.

So here we are only a few months away from the election and America is still waiting for Obama to define himself, will he be the poster boy for progressives, pushing the country more and more to the left and away from the values that have made us strong, or will he continue to try and court the right by evoking his faith into his politics?

One More Broken Promise

Oct 27 2007 - “I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. …” Barack Obama

No Shame

“The first news most Americans heard this morning was the announcement that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after his 15-month battle with brain cancer,” conservative Gary Bauer wrote this week. “The second thing most Americans heard was a shameless attempt by Big Media 'talking heads' and liberal politicians to exploit his death by suggesting that America should honor the senator by stopping the debate and passing ‘health care reform

Stimulus

"Not only has the stimulus not worked and the economy not been rescued, the President continues to promote policies that will create more unemployment in America. The national energy tax that went through this House last month will cause millions of Americans to lose their jobs over the next 10 years, at 2.5 million per year. And we're debating the health care plan, the government takeover of health care, which according to the Presidents council of economic advisors model will cost five million more Americans their jobs."

Idiot

I just don’t understand how anyone would want to be a Republican. I just can’t figure it. I don’t understand. If you’re poor, if you’re any kind of minority - gay, black, Latino, anything. If you’re not a rich - I don’t know. If you’re not a rich born-again-Christian, I don’t get it.

Be Proud

“I wish that some in the media would keep things like that in perspective, what is really important in our country. And what is important is our freedoms, America’s security, our liberty. Let us continue to love our country, be proud of our country, never apologize for our country.”
- Sarah Palin

Common Sense

Of course, Obama attended a black supremacist church for twenty years, and referred to his grandmother as “a typical white woman,” and wrote a book with the word “race” in the title – which no politically ambitious white writer could ever get away with. But that’s not “racist” or anything. -Kathy Shaidle
