Conservatism From The Midwest

How Talk Radio Works

On today’s show WTAQ supposedly received a letter from a man who asked that Jerry get taken off the air because of his attack on the bishop of the local Catholic diocese.

Last week Jerry read a article that Bishop Zubik uses Archie Bunker to make a point as to what the Bishop sees as bigotry. Jerry was all upset by this and spent a good deal of time convincing others that they too should be upset.

You know Jerry not everyone who is supporting the issue, which I am one, has an open mind to this. DO you really think that some people are not bigots in this community? DO you think that for some this is not driven by their dislike for the brown skin people? No Jerry I do not believe even you can deny that fact that some people may be bigots.

But back to the letter. Apparently this letter was from a retired doctor, so Jerry when he mentioned the man’s name and that MD was listed after he could net help but add, “I wonder if that stands for mentally deranged“.

So I popped off a email regarding the fact that while he is upset that the Bishop used the term Archie Bunker to describe some of this community, why the double standard where you can so loosely used derogatory comment’s.

Thankfully Jerry was able to clear that up for me, he was only joking! And then he went on his little tangent of people being humorless or taking this to serious. So it’s good to know that now I can insult people as long as I say, it was just a joke and if any one doubts it all they need to do is ask Jerry Bader.

Memorial Day

Korean War MemorialThis weekend is Memorial Day weekend. For many it’s the official start of summer. Picnics, cookouts, camping and family vacations.

In today’s America where we have people like Rosie O’Donnel calling the troops terrorist, and John Murtha calling them murders, the real meaning behind this holiday is lost. The vast majority of schools do not even spend time on we celebrate.

So while the far left is spending their time trying to defund the troops and treating them as if they are the enemy, take a minute and remember all of the men and women who have served this country and for the many who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country.

Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day because it was a time set aside to honor the nation’s Civil War dead by decorating their graves. It was first widely observed on May 30, 1868, to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers, by proclamation of General John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of former sailors and soldiers. On May 5, 1868, Logan declared in General Order No. 11 that:

The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet churchyard in the land. In this observance no form of ceremony is prescribed, but posts and comrades will in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit.

Today, Memorial Day is celebrated at Arlington National Cemetery with a ceremony in which a small American flag is placed on each grave.

Congratulation to the Dems

The QueenThey finally got something passed……even though they cannot get a surrender date passed, can’t follow through with their plan to turn Iraq over to the terrorist, they were able to get America’s lowest-paid workers a $2.10 raise. Workers who now make $5.15 an hour will see their paychecks go up by 70 cents per hour before the end of the summer. Another 70 cents will be added next year, and by summer 2009, all minimum-wage jobs will pay no less than $7.25 an hour. Congratulations Dems, you finally win won!

So Which Way Is It Jimmy?

Gov. Jim Doyle’s proposed new tax on oil companies would amount to a 7-cent increase in the gas tax. At current pump prices, the governor’s tax increase would raise the 32.9-cent gas tax, already one of the highest in the nation, to about 40 cents.

Doyle insists that the tax would not be passed on to consumers yet University of Wisconsin-Madison business professor Rodney E. Stevenson said he expects any new Wisconsin tax on oil companies to be passed to consumers in some way.

What is really funny is that Doyle said he disagrees with other Governors who are suspending their state gas tax for the summer, his reason, because they cannot control the price the oil companies charge for gas, so suspending the tax would only hurts the state and the transportation budget. But yet he says that his tax will not cause oil companies to raise the price? SO which is it Jimmy, how do you know your tax on oil companies will not cause price increase, but suspending the gas tax is will cause a price increase? One has to wonder what’s in the water in Madison these days.

The Oddity Of It All

One of the stranger developments in this early election process for the 2008 White House has been the reaction from the left. It started with Fox News and the Nevada Democrat party joining together to setup a Democrat debate in August. Then John Edwards said he would not attend a debate hosted by FOX NEWS. Right after that the rest of the candidates got orders from the national party that they also could not attend. So that one was cancelled

Then MSNBC held a Republican debate that was run more like a sideshow than a debate. The candidates knew that by going on MSNBC they were going on an network that would not be favorable to them, but none of them ran and hide, they faced Chris Matthews and survived his smarmy questioning.

Then not too long ago the Democrats announced their upcoming “debate” schedule. Again the democrats have decided to play it safe and go on party friendly networks, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and ABC.

They will tell you they won’t use FOX because of their conservative slant. That is there choice, but it makes them look like cowards who are afraid to face real questions instead of softball questions they get from the DNC staged debates and with DNC moderators.

FOX has announced with the Congressional Black Caucus, a democrat debate in November. It will be interesting to see if they turn their back on their huge voter base and refuse to attend. Edwards already has, but that is no surprise, he has proven that he does not have the temperament to be president and his campaign has been over for months now.

But don’t worry Dems, if you need a safe zone for your message, Charlie Rose will be moderating a debate on Labor Day. They could not find a safer moderator to toss out softball than a PBS host.

One More Broken Promise

Oct 27 2007 - “I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. …” Barack Obama

No Shame

“The first news most Americans heard this morning was the announcement that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after his 15-month battle with brain cancer,” conservative Gary Bauer wrote this week. “The second thing most Americans heard was a shameless attempt by Big Media 'talking heads' and liberal politicians to exploit his death by suggesting that America should honor the senator by stopping the debate and passing ‘health care reform

If Al Qaeda wants to demolish the America we know and love, they'd better hurry because Obama's beating them to it.

You Better Listen Democrats

"One day, God's gonna stand before you, and he's gonna judge you and the rest of your damn cronies up on the Hill -- and then you will get your just desserts." - From Sen. Arlen Specter town hall meeting

Stimulus

"Not only has the stimulus not worked and the economy not been rescued, the President continues to promote policies that will create more unemployment in America. The national energy tax that went through this House last month will cause millions of Americans to lose their jobs over the next 10 years, at 2.5 million per year. And we're debating the health care plan, the government takeover of health care, which according to the Presidents council of economic advisors model will cost five million more Americans their jobs."
John Boehner

Idiot

I just don’t understand how anyone would want to be a Republican. I just can’t figure it. I don’t understand. If you’re poor, if you’re any kind of minority - gay, black, Latino, anything. If you’re not a rich - I don’t know. If you’re not a rich born-again-Christian, I don’t get it.

DekeRivers Derangement Count

The MSM media and liberals in general all suffer Sarah Palin Derangement Syndrome. They fear this little woman like never before seen. There is a blogger from Madison WI, who has a bad case of SPDS and it's absolutely hysterical to read his post.

Todays latest SPDS attack from ol Deke comes in a praise from a far left magazines review of her book. I guess it just pisses people like Deke off that her book has been so well received even though knuckledraggers like him have TRIED to derail it.

Some of you have asked for his blog address but last thing I will do is direct people to his hateful site. I will suffer for you to read it.

Be Proud

“I wish that some in the media would keep things like that in perspective, what is really important in our country. And what is important is our freedoms, America’s security, our liberty. Let us continue to love our country, be proud of our country, never apologize for our country.”
- Sarah Palin

GOP Power Rankings

Here are current odds for the 2012 Republican Primary

Mitt Romney 4-1
Mike Huckabee 5-1
Bobby Jindal 6-1
Tim Pawlenty 12-1

Apologize?

We never need to fear that though we're not a perfect nation, that we must apologize for being proud of ourselves.

Common Sense

Of course, Obama attended a black supremacist church for twenty years, and referred to his grandmother as “a typical white woman,” and wrote a book with the word “race” in the title – which no politically ambitious white writer could ever get away with. But that’s not “racist” or anything. -Kathy Shaidle
